Fire

The fire in the hearth was a blaze
A cheerful, cackling fool
As it danced all through the hours
Feeding on its burning fuel
As it peaked and climbed higher
Threatening to leave
As it blazed and it spat out merrily
While the night continued to leave
It burned ever higher
Up to the chimney top
All the while it snapped and grew
To pass the time away
But soon it became bored
Greedy for more food
As it blazed and blazed more brightly
Growing in it's hue
From red and orange to a blazing sun
It ate away at its fuel
Little did it know that the fuel
Was about to go away
Using it up it started to see
That there was nothing left
As it smoldered and snapped in disappointment
It left the hearth again
