The Missed Set

I was playing in one of the last volleyball games of the season. I was on the court and waited for the other to return the ball back over to our side of the net. The ball was miraculously coming at me straight on, so i went ahead and got ready to set the ball, when I seriously missed it and I ended up head - butting the ball.

The flew right back over the net at the unexpected other team. They looked like they had been struck on the heads with hammers, because they didn't even go for the ball at all. It landed squarely on the court, but no one was watching the ball anymore, just the referee. After having a lengthy debate with the two coaches, he called the ball fair and we got a point.

Our coach called a time out then, because the whole team had started cracking up. The coach tried to scold me for missing the set, but she kept having to fight back a grin. I just sat there the whole time, grinning like an idiot, as I said " I know I missed the set, but you have to admit, that was pretty awesome."
